Visit Lowell National Historical Park

We both love working as Park Rangers in Lowell! It is no surprise that our number 1 recommendation for everyone is to visit Lowell National Historical Park. Visit the Boott Cotton Mills Museum and check out our working weave room. Step back in time at the Mill Girls and Immigrants Exhibit. Chat with our Ranger friends and learn all about the Industrial Revolution and its legacies.

Although we probably won’t be giving any tours on wedding weekend, we still hope that you will consider either a Mill and Trolley Tour or a Canal Boat Tour! View the city of Lowell from a whole new angle on a guided tour with a Ranger. The Mill and Trolley tours are 90 minutes long at 2:30 p.m. and the Canal Boat tours are 1.5-2 hours long at 11 a.m., 12noon, 2 p.m., and 3 p.m.

There is a lot to like about Lowell!
Visit one of the many galleries, studios, or museums in Lowell. Mom and Dad Anstey have a studio at the Western Avenue Artist Studios. There is also the Whistler House Museum, the New England Quilt Museum, the ALL gallery, the Brush Art Gallery, and many others.
Consider checking out a Lowell Spinner‘s Baseball game on Sunday evening if you are still in town or visiting the independent Luna Movie theater. Walk around Mill No. 5 shops and don’t forget to eat at any of the number of Downtown Lowell restaurants.
Check out the Like Lowell calendar closer to August to see what kinds of special events, openings, and, shows are going on!
Visit www.LikeLowell.com for the calendar and to check out the many things that you can do here in Lowell!
Take a walk along the canals and Merrimack River
One of our favorite activities is just walking along the canal trails, river walk, and Pawtucket Boulevard. Check out information and the map of canal trails here. We highly recommend getting some ice cream at Heritage Ice Cream and walking along the Merrimack river!
Visit Boston
Boston is only about a 45 minute drive from the Lowell area. Another option is to take the MBTA commuter rail in to the city ($20 round trip). Whenever we go to the city, we park either at Sullivan Square or Wellington and take the T in (Parking is $6 and the T ride is $3 per trip).
Visit one of the many awesome museums (Emily has worked at the Museum of Science, Museum Fine Arts, and the USS Constitution Museum and recommends all of them!), walk the Freedom Trail, and make sure to eat some delicious New England food.
